So, you wanna know how I tried to cleanse my house? Man, it was a whole thing. I’m not some guru, just sharing what I ended up doing when my new place felt kinda… off. You know that feeling? Like the air was a bit thick, or just holding onto old vibes from whoever was there before. It wasn’t spooky, just… stale.

Learning how to cleanse a house from bad energy? Heres a quick guide to make your space feel light and positive.

First Things First – The Obvious Stuff

I didn’t jump straight to the weird spiritual stuff. Nah. First, I just had to deal with the physical reality. It’s like, you can’t expect a clear vibe if you’re tripping over actual junk or smelling old gym socks.

  • Decluttering: I went on a total rampage. Got rid of anything that wasn’t mine or just felt… heavy. You know, those old magazines someone left, a weirdly stained lampshade, random knick-knacks that just screamed “not my energy.” Boxed it all up, tossed what was trash, and donated the rest. Felt good, real good, just clearing out physical space.

  • Deep Cleaning: Then came the scrubbing. And I mean scrubbing. Floors, windows, baseboards, inside cabinets, the whole nine yards. I used regular cleaners, nothing fancy. The idea was just to physically remove any old grime and dust. My arms were sore for days, no joke, but the place already started to feel a bit fresher.

Then I Got a Bit More… Experimental

Okay, so after the place was physically clean, it still felt a little… stagnant. Like the energy was stuck. So I looked up some stuff online, talked to a friend who’s into this kind of thing. Here’s what I tried next. No guarantees this stuff works for everyone, just my experience, alright?

Smoke Signals (not the Native American kind, just to be clear):

I’d heard about smudging with sage. Yeah, I was pretty skeptical. Felt a bit like I was about to perform some ancient ritual I had no business doing, and honestly, a little silly. But I figured, what the heck, can’t hurt. So I bought a sage stick. Lit it up – careful with the smoke alarm, by the way, almost learned that the hard way – and walked around the entire apartment. I wafted the smoke into all the corners, closets, even behind the sofa. Kept the windows open a crack so the old energy (and the smoke) could get out. Did it work? Who knows for sure. The house smelled like a campfire for a good few hours, which wasn’t entirely unpleasant. My cat definitely thought I’d lost my marbles, just stared at me the whole time.

Making Some Noise:

My friend also said sound can help break up stagnant energy. Like ringing bells or even just clapping your hands loudly in corners. So, I grabbed this little brass bell I had from a souvenir shop. Walked around ringing it in every room. Felt utterly ridiculous, especially after the sage incident. I clapped my hands pretty loudly in a few spots that felt particularly ‘meh’. The cat was definitely judging me hard by this point, probably thinking it was time to call animal control on its weird human.

The Salt Trick:

Then there was salt. Apparently, it’s good for absorbing bad juju or whatever you want to call it. So I put little bowls of sea salt – just regular sea salt from the grocery store, nothing special – in the corners of each room. I left them there for a day or two, then I made sure to toss the salt out (outside the house, not in my indoor bin, just in case it had absorbed something weird, haha). Seemed easy enough.

Good Ol’ Fresh Air:

This one’s a no-brainer, but seriously, opening all the windows. Letting a good cross-breeze blow through the whole place for a good hour or two. Even if it’s a bit cold outside. It just makes everything feel fresher and cleaner. This I do pretty regularly anyway, cleanse or no cleanse. It’s basic but effective.

The Real Secret Weapon (For Me, Anyway)

You can do all the smoke and salt and bells you want, but I reckon the biggest part of it all was just deciding. Deciding that this was my space now, and I wanted it to feel good. While I was doing all that stuff, I was consciously thinking, “Okay, old vibes out, good vibes in. This is going to be a calm, happy home.” Call it intention, call it the placebo effect, call it whatever you like. But focusing my mind on making the space feel positive seemed to be the thing that really tied it all together for me.

So, did my house get “cleansed”? It sure felt different afterwards. Lighter, somehow. Brighter. The air didn’t feel so heavy anymore. Was it the sage? The scrubbing? Me just convincing myself? Probably a mix of everything. It’s not like I saw sparkling lights or heard angelic choirs suddenly. It just felt… better. More like mine. And sometimes, that’s all you really need, right? It wasn’t some magic fix, more like I hit a big reset button for the whole place. And hey, if it makes you feel better in your own home, why not give some of it a whirl? Just don’t blame me if your pets think you’ve gone completely bonkers in the process.
